Bedford Beauty
The Story
Bedford Beauty proves that persistence pays off! We were looking for a project closer to home, and we felt ready to take on a bigger renovation. Bedford Beauty had been on the market for months in a strong sellersβ market. Simply put, it was priced way too high. It had been a rental for years and was in need of a new, well everything, plus it was right next to a busy street. We saw right through the mess into what this house could be, but we also knew it was going to be the most expensive renovation to date, so we made a lowball offer and crossed our fingers. The listing agent was just as surprised as we were when our offer was accepted! We came to learn that other investors had made very similar offers to ours that the sellers had rejected, but they were finally ready to let it go by the time we came around. Timing was on our side!
The Design
Design wise, Bedford Beauty was an interesting combination of ideas and materials. By the time we got to this project we had accumulated tons of odds and ends from other houses that we were able to blend together to create a really unique design! The barn doors and reclaimed wood came from personal projects, and the desk/ coffee bar cabinets and white backsplash tile came out of The Windsor Forest Cottage. Our favorite parts of the design plan are definitely the cedar shake siding, unique horizontal slat fencing in the front yard, and beadboard ceiling detail!
