Backshell One
The Story
Backshell One is the house that started it all. As our first official flip, Backshell One taught us a good bit. We went into this project thinking it would take a few months and would net us a decent, but smallish profit. While the whole renovation ended up taking over twice as long as we were shooting for (hello learning curve!), we also ended up making double our original profit goal! We called that a win, and the rest is history.
The Design
Backshell One originally featured bright red brick, a terracotta red roof, and maroon trim. It was not attractive to say the least! While we could paint the brick and the trim, the roof was brand new and since there was no reason to change it, we were stuck with an interesting design challenge. To make the red roof look more designerly, and less Clifford the Big Red Dog, we leaned into a modern farmhouse inspired design. Creamy white shiplap, wood look floors, industrial faucets and fixtures, and a whitewashed brick fireplace completed the look.
